Crystal View’s New Sound-Art Plasma Features Snell Acoustics Technology  Print E-mail

Crystal View has just introduced Sound-Art, a custom bezel that transforms its CVP-43 and CVP-50 plasma displays into complete audio-video solutions.

Serving as an extended bezel, Sound-Art integrates a high-end loudspeaker system that provides the custom installer with a audio-video plasma display package never before available from one manufacturer.

The Crystal View CVP-43 HD and CVP-50HD plasma displays are both available with the Sound-Art solution for a suggested retail price of $12,995 and $16,995. A clear-coated, black gloss finish is standard, however a wide range of custom colors and finishes, including a selection of real wood veneers are also available.

Sound-Art is the result of collaboration between Crystal View and Snell Acoustics and features a no-compromise, two-way loudspeaker design. Each side of Sound-Art integrates two 5.25-inch woofers and a one-inch aluminum dome tweeter, arranged in a D’Appolito Array, named for Snell’s chief engineer. The result is full range performance from 70Hz to 20kHz at levels up to 103dB, using amplifiers from 25 to 150 watts.

Sound-Art’s frame matches the three and seven eighths depth of the Crystal View plasma display panels. The frame is machined from a solid block of furniture grade, MDF wood. The speaker enclosures use Snell’s Quiet Box technology, in which inner and outer cabinet layers sandwich a damping layer of Noise Killer, for a high level of structural integrity and smooth bass response, even at loud volumes.

Crystal View, which unveiled Sound-Art during their December 2003 New England dealer-training event, reported extremely positive feedback from both sale reps and dealers.

Additionally, in the first quarter of 2004, Crystal View will offer an enhanced version of Sound-Art that integrates a center channel speaker into the stereo loudspeaker bezel. Product specifications and pricing will be made available at that time.
