You’ve shelled good money for an extremely slim television to mount on your wall. It’s thin, and it looks great. If you want to mount speakers though, you’re generally stuck with something that’s quite the opposite. There’s no getting around it, bulky wall mounted speakers ruin the whole look of the thing.
The Mythos XTR-50 is made for exactly that purpose. Using tweeter-like domes rather than traditional cones, Definitive was able to scale the XTR-50 down to a depth of only 1.5 inches, similar to that of current ultra-thin televisions. The speakers sport an aluminum housing that incorporates ribs to keep the frame rigid and eliminate unwanted resonance. In addition, magnets and other parts of the speaker that run warm prodrude through – but are flush with – the back of the housing to aid in cooling. You can pick up the XTR-50 now through Crutchfield and Amazon at $699 each. In the next few weeks, you’ll be able to check it out in-store at Best Buy’s Magnolia Home Theater, Sixth Avenue Electronics, Vann’s and other locations throughout the U.S. |
