A new 4 X 4 matrix will be available in the 2nd quarter of 2009, in the under-$1000 price point.  Audio Authority will release their CMX-144 Component/Audio Matrix for a suggested retail price of $799 this April.  The device features a touch-sensitive front panel, Ethernet, RS-232 and IR, as well as the ability to handle resolutions of up to 1080p using high bandwidth component video switching.

Specifically, the CMX-144 incorporates component video, L/R analogue audio, and digital coaxial/optical audio switching.  By internally cross-converting the digital audio, the CMX-144 bypasses the need for an outboard converter.  This flexible device allows the user to switch video and audio separately, which enable the viewing of one source with the audio of another.
