Unite: The Singles Collection to be released on November 8, 2005
features “Slogans”, the first new official Marley track available in
years. Marley supposedly recorded the song in a Miami bedroom in 1979
and kept the tapes in his mother’s house. Last year his sons Stephen
and Ziggy revisited the demo and Stephen overdubbed the track with
other instruments - including Eric Clapton on guitar. "Slogans" was
produced specifically for this compilation.
Also included are two remixes. will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas was invited by Marley’s with Rita to remix “Africa Unite” and Ashley Beedle remixed a mash-up of Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up” and son Damian’s “Welcome to Jamrock”. The release is rounded out by Bob Marley classics like “Soul Rebel”, “I Shot the Sheriff” and “Three Little Birds” A DVD is also being released featuring the 1977 performance at London’s Rainbow Theatre. The video has been digitally enhanced and the audio remastered for 5.1 Surround Sound. Extras in the two-disc set include over twenty minutes of exclusive interviews with friends and family that should satisfy eager fans. |
