The “It’s Only Rock and Roll” press conference has wrapped, and Apple has announced a series of upgrades to iTunes, and a new OS for the iPhone, as well as some significant - and some not so significant - upgrades to their series of iPods.

To start with, the iPod classic got a boost in size, up to 160GB while retaining the same $250 price tag.  Similarly, the 8GB iPod Touch got a bit of a price reduction, to $199.  Replacing the older upgrades though, the new 32GB and 64GB iPod Touch (at $299 and $399 respectively) get a bit of a performance boost as they will now be able to run OpenGL 2.0, much like the iPhone GS.

In a bid to capture the lower end market, the iPod Shuffle got a new look and a price drop.  Now encased in one of several bright aluminum frames, the iPod shuffle runs $59 for a 2GB model and $79 for a 4GB.  New iPod Shuffle headphones are on the way as well as the Apple store exclusive 4GB Special Edition iPod Shuffle, at $99.

The biggest announcement came with the iPod Nano, which got a nice makeover, a larger screen, and video capture capabilities.  Coming in nine different colors and looking to make people think twice about other SSD video cameras, the 8GB Nano will sell for $149 and the 16GB edition for $179. Surprisingly, there was no announcement of HD video support, despite endless rumors to the contrary.  It looks like, for the moment, the Zune stands alone.
