This
month, Sonance will be shipping the iPort, the first in-wall docking
station for the Apple iPod that lets the iPod's music play over any
whole-home audio system, while also providing battery charging and
remote control. The iPort is compatible with all models of iPods and
Sonance systems, components, and accessories. As new iPod models are
introduced Sonance says that they plan to develop accessories to fit
them.
The iPort is designed to match the iPod's contours and styling while
providing an ergonomic, secure, in-wall cradle for the player. The
iPort also provides the electronic interface for audio, control, and
power signals, so that the player responds to both remote control and
front panel operating commands as well as charging its battery while
docked. When used in a home audio system, iPort allows iPod operation
from any room that is part of a distributed audio system. The iPort chassis employs Sonance's RotoLock mounting system for reliable in-wall mounting, and each iPort is shipped with a custom install accessory kit that contains all the hardware and cables required for a complete installation. The MSRP for the in-wall iPort with custom install accessory kit is $598. Installation and Apple products are additional. |
