While doing a photo shoot in Nice, France last week, U2 lost a CD that contained work from their upcoming album on it. The album, reportedly titled “Vertigo”, is not due to be released until November. The CD, which belonged to guitarist, The Edge, may have been either lost or stolen. No one is sure and police have launched an investigation.
Should the album end up in the hands of bootleggers, or people planning to release it over the Internet, both the band and their recording label could possibly lose millions of dollars.
“Vertigo” will mark the group’s first studio release since the 2000 release of “All that You Can’t Leave Behind.” Reportedly, the band had been working on material in Dublin for over two years with producer Steve Lillywhite. Lillywhite has worked on other U2 albums in the past including "The Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby."
