Peter Buck, guitarist of the U.S. pop super group REM was arrested for allegedly causing quite a scene on a flight from Seattle to London this past weekend. He may have played guitar on the song "Shiny Happy People" but things weren’t so shiny today as he appeared in court.
Bertis Downs, REM's U.S. attorney, today read the following statement written by Buck outside the courthouse. "I am grateful for the court allowing me to undertake our promotional tour. The matter will now be delayed until mid-June and of course I will be here. I am sorry for the incident and of course I am embarrassed about the whole thing. However, I have been advised not to talk about it further."
REM is scheduled to play the South Africa Freedom Day concert in London's Trafalgar Square on April 29 and their new album Reveal is scheduled to be released by Warner Brothers Records on May 14, 2001.
