The pilot of the chartered Cessna twin engine plane than crashed with 22 year old R&B star Aaliyah on board, had plead no contest to cocaine possession just 12 days before the ill-fated flight.
The FAA spokesperson Kathleen Bergen, says the pilot, Luis Antonio Morales Blanes, had not been approved by the FAA to fly for the charter company, Blackhawk International Airlines. In Los Angeles, fans of Aaliyah have erected an impromptu memorial for the singer on her promotional billboard on the side of Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard. Mourners have written their last respects right on the giant poster while also leaving flowers and lighting candles in memory of Aaliyah. Sources: MSNBC.com |
