Singer
Marc Cohn was shot in the head Sunday during an attempted carjacking.
The bullet struck him above his right temple where it remained lodged.
Doctors successfully removed the bullet and the singer has already been
released from the Denver Health Medical Center.
Cohn had been on tour with Suzanne Vega and was leaving the parking garage after a show when the incident happened. Police arrested Joseph Yacteen on Monday who allegedly tried to stop the singer’s car while being chased by security guards from a nearby hotel for using a stolen credit card. Cohn’s tour manager and driver, Thomas Dube, spotted the suspect with a gun and tried to swerve to escape but the shot had already been fired, grazing Dube before hitting Cohn. Cohn, a Grammy winner in 1991 for Best New Artist, is most famous for his single, “Walking in Memphis”. His current tour has been postponed but his manager says he will do his best to reschedule once he has recovered. Cohn is 46 and married to ABC News’ Elizabeth Vargas. |
