Legendary guitar hero, know for his finger picking style and mellow, echoey sound, died at the age of 77. Atkins had fought battles with Cancer in the 1970's and also had a brain tumor removed in 1997.
Atkins played with Elvis Presley on Heartbreak Hotel, The Everly Brothers on "Wake Up Little Susie" and Hank Williams Sr. on "Your Cheatn' Heart." Atkins, at the time of his death, just released a new album entitled "The Day Finger Pickers Took Over The World." Source: guitarsite.com |
