One
half of the two part metal guitar assault known as Korn has left the
band to peruse more heavenly goals. Guitarist Brian “Head” Welsh
announced that he is parting ways with the successful new metal band
Korn to dedicate his musical pursuits to his lord and savior Jesus
Christ. The band announced on their website that they fully respect
Welsh’s decision and hopes he finds the happiness he is searching for.
Korn rose to popularity in the late 90’s along with other bands such as Deftones and Limp Bizkit in a genre dubbed by many as "new metal." With a catalog of songs that deal with very dark and evil topics such as incest, rape and death, Korn has seen its fair share of controversy. The band does not endorse these ideas but they do address these issues very directly and much of their sound and style is derived from these topics. Welsh has decided to find a different venue for his musical expressionism. This announcement comes while Korn is in the recording studio working on their eighth album. There haven't been any announcements yet if the band is looking for a replacement guitarist, however this will most likely be a requirement for touring because of the dual guitar nature of the bands music. Korn’s eighth studio album is due out in stores this September. |
