Virgin Records R&B star, Aaliyah, was killed along with 8 people in her entourage, in a plane crash in the Bahamas this past Saturday. CNN is reporting that the twin engine Cessna could have been too heavy.

Cyril Saunders of the Bahamas Civil Aviation Authority said it is just a rumor this early into the investigation. He went on to say there is no official cause for the crash.

Aaliyah’s Cessna was headed to Miami in the early evening on Saturday before crashing soon after take off. CNN reports baggage handlers warned the plane was overloaded with suitcases, according to Gloria Knowles, who works for Abaco Air Ltd. at Marsh Harbour Airport. She said the handlers and the plane's pilot had complained about the heavy load, but the passengers insisted on taking everything with them.
