In a press release confirming Guns N’ Roses upcoming performance in London on August 26, 2002 at the London Arena, the band has seemingly dropped former guitarist Paul Huge from the lineup and replaced him with former Psychedelic Furs axeman Richard Fortus.
This may all be a moot point for many G n’ R fans who feel the band really ended when Saul Hudson, a.k.a. Slash and Izzy Stradlin called it quits, but the newest incarnation of Guns N’ Roses, with Axl Rose still as the front man, are going on a world tour this summer with five confirmed dates including headlining spots in Tokyo and Osaka Japan on August 17th and 18th at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival.
Other shows that G n’ R are scheduled to perform at are the Leeds Carling Weekend in Leeds, England, on August 23, and the Pukkelpop Festival in Hasselt, Belgium, on August 24. The press release also names keyboard player Dizzy Reed (original member since 1991), guitarists Robin Finck (NIN) and Buckethead, bassist Tommy Stinson (The Replacements), drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia (Primus), and second keyboard player Chris Pitman (Replicants) as confirmed performers.
There has been no further word on the release date for the bands upcoming album Chinese Democracy.
