With hockey season long over, baseball players on the verge of a strike and no NBA basketball, it’s time to gear up for NFL football. It was just announced that New Jersey’s OTHER famous rocker Bon Jovi will perform in Times Square in New York City on Thursday, September 5th as part of the pre-game show for the New York Giants vs San Francisco 49ers NFL season opener.
The ninety-minute concert will feature Enrique Iglesias and DJ Scribble performing as openers. Using the same area that the New Year’s Eve ball drops at, a giant football will be used to count down the last moments before the 2002/2003 NFL season kicks off at the end of the concert.
CBS, MTV, VH1 and ESPN will broadcast portions of the event which will feature a segment dedicated to honoring victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. After the concert, all of the members of Bon Jovi will be flown in a helicopter to Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to perform at the game’s halftime show.
