Sometimes it's good to keep pushing through when you're faced with a challenge that seems insurmountable but sometimes you've got to give up the ghost. That's what Toshiba did this week, according to Japanese business paper The Nikkei.
OLED TVs are hard to pull off. They're too small for most folks to want and too expensive for most to afford. Several companies have pulled away from OLED production in the past and Toshiba's now among them. The surprising thing is that it's not only OLED televisions that have gotten the cut. According to The Nikkei, Toshiba was slated to make 1.5 million OLED screens for cell phones this year, but has cancelled those plans as well. The money and manpower that was previously in R&D for OLED screens is being moved to create better LCDs. |
