OLED, or organic light emitting diode was hailed as the technology that was going to put Sony back on top. Recently, Samsung has squashed Sony's market share as they release their LED technology flat panel TVs. Unfortunately, as Sony is slow to production, other companies are taking advantage of moving forward with OLED production.
While Sony is pushing an 11-inch OLED, LG is coming out with a 15-inch by year's end and Samsung debuted a 31-inch OELD at this year's CES. Sony has promised that they have been working on a 27-inch OLED. However, with the ability to get a cheap LCD or Plasma flat panel at twice the size, I struggle to see OLED technology getting a strong foothold in the market.
