When Sony says that the new OLED being shown off is paper-thin, they're not exaggerating.  The display measures only 80 micrometers deep, which is about as thick as a standard piece of paper.

But it's not just thin, it's also incredibly flexible.  It's able to be rolled up repeatedly, while still producing moving images.  Sony says the OLED can be rolled around any cylinder with a 4mm or larger.  Apparently, it can also be stretched. The display itself measures 4.1 inches and has a 432 x 240 resolution.  It can show 16 million colors and it sports a 1,000:1 contrast ratio.

There's no word from Sony on exactly what they'll be using these displays for and when they expect to unveil something like this to consumers.  Right now, the focus is on getting production costs down.
