NuVision's Lucidium line is expanding with a pair of midsized televisions that sport a few high end features. While the Lucidium line already featured a 32” and 37” set, the new televisions offer customers the option to take advantage of the FX5 120Hz processing found normally on NuVision’s larger sets. This FX5 technology eliminates the need for 3:2 pulldown by displaying each frame five times, thereby creating an effective 120 frame per second picture.
Adding to this, NuVision’s Frame Forward Motion (FFM) creates interpolated frames between two consecutive frames to create a much smoother experience. This can be turned off, and even adjusted between three intensity settings. The new Lucidium sets also feature NuVision’s much touted Digital Switching Deep Black (DSDB) technology. Though these displays are CCFL backlit they act more intelligently than standard LCDs. By adjusting the amount of light coming through based on the content being shown, NuVision is able to create a stronger contrast ratio and depth of field than that of traditional displays.
Both the new NVU32FX5 and NVU37FX5 sport 10bit color thanks to NuColor x.v. Rather than the 16.7 million colors in a standard LCD, the two new displays from NuVision offer 1.07 billion. The NVU32FX5 is available now from dealers for $1,249. The NVU37FX5 will run $1,499 when it ships in December. The 37” model will also be available at the same price in pink in order to benefit breast cancer awareness. $100 from the sale of each NVU37FX5P will go to the American Cancer Society.
