NEC's New Wiring Scheme Aims to Decrease Thickness of LCD Displays  Print E-mail

Thinner seems to be the game when it comes to HDTVs.  NEC Electronics has announced a new wiring scheme for LCD HDTVs that aims to better the transfer rate of the signal internally, decrease the amount of wiring needed, and thus decrease the overall thickness of large LCD displays.

The new wiring technology allows for the wiring inside the display to be reduced by more than half (for example, a requirement of 21 wires now becomes 8 wires).  This decrease allows the overall thickness of the display to be reduced by half.

The new wiring connections also allow for faster data transfer rates. This will increase image quality and ghosting without the need for more cables.  The technology is expected to be implemented in large screen LCDs sometime in 2009
