New information is available about the ultra-thin LCD panels that LG has recently unveiled in Japan. These 42 and 47 inch screens measure just 0.23-inches thick. They use edge-lit LED backlights and LG’s own light guide sheet technology to reduce thickness, and also reduce the weight by about half of a regular LCD TV.
Although availability is yet to be announced, new information has been released about these revolutionary screens. They have viewing angles of 178/178, a power consumption of 110 Watts (42 inch) and 130 Watts (47 inch), 450 cd/m2 of brightness, and a 10-bit LCD panel.
