One of the most common complaints about watching 3D content is the need to wear glasses, and it's a problem that we've not conquered quite yet. Glasses-free displays do exist of course, but they've traditionally been a bit lacking. The new prototype from Dolby and Philips, however, has been impressing people left and right.
David Pierce of The Verge writes that the viewing angles on the 4K display were impressively wide. There are 26 different viewing angles that allow you to see the 3D effect thanks to a sheet of undulated plastic. "The picture was so crisp and clean that it almost took a minute to realize we were looking at 3D footage," adds Pierce. |
