B&O is on a roll with product introductions. The BeoVision 8 is the fifth in 12 months, and as far as televisions go, it's none too shabby. Gone is the hugeness of the BeoVision 10, with its speaker panel attached under the screen. The BeoVision 8 places the speakers on the sides of the screen, like a more traditional set.
"What we did was move the sound forward and up, designing the TV like a proper stage with an orchestra pit," says designer David Lewis. The front speakers are tuned specifically to best recreate human speech, so movies and television can be watched with clarity. The BeoVision 8 also has downfiring speakers dedicated solely to bass. According to B&O, this keeps the sound clean, but powerful.
Though the BeoVision 8 is pictured with a stand, (does that look stable to you?) you can wall mount it if you wish. The BeoVision 8 will be available this summer with an MSRP of $5,400.
