Projector fans already know how nice it is to have a perfect aspect ratio when watching movies, but those preferring televisions don't typically have that luxury. The new trend of 21:9 televisions offers a bit of hope though.
While Philips has 21:9 TVs on the market already and Vizio has a few on the way, AUO sets itself apart by making a 71 inch set - the largest yet. It uses passive 3D glasses and offers a 240Hz refresh rate. According to Richard Lai of Engadget, the experience is "surprisingly comfortable and effective." The first company to start selling these will be TCL - a China based electronics company. There's no word yet on whether we'll be seeing these in the States or what the price will be if they arrive. |
