The whole glasses-free trend in 3D televisions is something worth getting excited about to be sure. The tech is new, but continued improvements could completely change the way 3D is done.
The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) has developed a new system that utilizes 64 projectors to create a 200 inch high definition 3D image on a 2.5 meter by 4 meter screen. The tech is still new and there are problems with controlling light and color accuracy, but the NICT has high hopes. They're not planning on getting it into homes or even theaters, but into large public spaces where glasses-free 3D advertisements could be seen by passersby. |
