If you’re looking for a demo of just what 3D televisions can do, Sony Style is the place to be. They’ve had 3D televisions set up for a while, but as of today, they’ll all be showing 3D content to boot. Sony says that the televisions will be displayed in a setting designed to emulate the typical living room.
Sony’s not just interested in giving consumers a glimpse of 3D; they also hope to gain a bit of insight into what the average customer actually wants from a 3D television. As senior VP of Sony Style Linda Turner puts it, “Being able to demonstrate a new technology like 3D allows us to gain valuable insight into consumer reaction which we share with our engineers.”
The set used to demo 3D at Style stores will be the Bravia XBR-52LX900, which features a built-in 3D transmitter. The set will be paired with Sony’s own active shutter glasses. While there you’ll be able to check out 3D demos of several PlayStation 3 games, a clip from a FIFA soccer match and some samples from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
