Sony is making efforts to save $1.1 billion in expenses per year. This plan of action includes shutting down five or six manufacturing plants and cutting roughly 16,000 jobs. Sharp's plant closings will result in about 380 job losses. Sharp's two closing plants were opened more than 10 years ago and were chosen due to their lack of efficiency. Their number one plant in Japan will shift from TV panel production to smaller displays. Sharp plans to have its most efficient and advanced LCD panel factory online in March 2010. Like this article?
