If you've got a 3D TV and you're a fan of the new style, you're probably hard pressed for a reason to convert from 3D to 2D, but there are plenty of instances where 3D content isn't optimal.
Take the holidays as an example. You've got family and friends over and
not enough 3D glasses to go around. It won't be a problem most of the
time, but for 3D exclusive channels, VODs and recorded shows it will
be. You'll have the choice to watch in 3D or not at all.
Sensio is aiming to satisfy the need to change back to 2D with a new
technology that it just got patented. Using the tech, you'll be able to
simply switch between 2D and 3D, even on content recorded in 3D.
"The ability to view 3D in 2D is essential technology for TV
manufacturers," says Sensio president Nicholas Routhier, "and we
anticipate that demand for our patent license will be positively
impacted."
