New Blu-ray Competitor to Join the Market
Several months ago, DataStream announced a military grade encryption scheme for digital downloads and disc technology.  While there have been many competitors to the Blu-ray format, Royal Digital Media seems to have their act together – well almost.  Their discs boast the ability to store 100 GB per disc using red laser technology.  Even better yet, the technology supports the next generation of high-resolution video – possibly 1920i/p

The only thing that seems to be missing from the announcement is a name for the new technology.  HD VMD and CH-DVD have come and gone, but perhaps this new technology, to rename nameless for the time being, has potential.  The cheapness of red laser technology could mean mower priced units.  And we all know how stable red laser DVD players are versus blue laser Blu-ray players.

Blu-ray sounds better than HD-DVD, so does BlueTooth over HomeRF or 802.11b so
if I were the company i'd name the new technology Redbeam.
