Middle Eastern Markets Clamor for 3D – U.S. Remains Unconvinced Print E-mail
Tuesday, 17 August 2010
ImageWhen it comes to consuming, the United States trends towards the top of most lists.  Even in a rough economic climate, we are fantastic consumers.  When it comes to 3D though, we're surprisingly far below the average. According to a recent study from the Nielson Company, the area where 3D televisions are most popular right now is the Middle East.  Saudi Arabia is at the top, with a market index of 233.  That means that the average consumer in Saudi Arabia is over twice as likely to buy a 3D TV as the average consumer.

In the United States, we've got an index of 75.  The average is 100, which means that we don't even have an average amount of interest in 3D televisions.  Columbia, Egypt and Venezuela on the other hand, have indexes up over 200.

Perhaps the most surprising discovery is that Japan is sitting at the absolute bottom of the list, with a dismal index of 17.  Japanese companies love 3D, but it seems that Japanese consumers don't share that interest.
