Korean home theater fanatics get one hell of a set next month, courtesy of LG. For around the equivalent of $22,000, they'll be able to get equipped with an 84" LCD with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160. Assuming you've got a 4K source, that's one impressive set. Of course, there are a few different ways to get 4K into your home theater now, including upscaling receivers. One of the very cool things about this new set is that though it uses passive 3D technology, the UHD resolution still gives you a 1080p picture. That should keep things a little clearer and take off some of the edge that active 3D has. Until there are UHD sets that use active 3D anyway, which we're guessing won't be too far off. |
