Genesis 7.1f Loudspeakers Honored at CES  Print E-mail

The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show is just about two months away, but it’s never too early to start talking awards.  Genesis Advanced Technologies announced today that their 7.1f loudspeakers have been named a CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award honoree.  The CES Innovations selections are made every year to select the best and most innovative products in each category, and are judged by an independent panel of designers, engineers and media members.

The Genesis 7.1f speakers were introduced as an affordable reference speaker for audiophiles.  They feature many of the same technologies present in the Genesis 1 flagship model, and a design that got its start in the 1960s.  These floorstanding speakers feature the incredibly highly regarded Genesis ring-ribbon tweeter.  In addition to boasting a clean, distortion-less sound, the 7.1f speakers also sport a high frequency control in order to adjust for environments with particularly bright or dull qualities.

Genesis’ 7.1f loudspeakers use an 8” side firing subwoofer to create clean bass down to 22Hz.  Using the servo-bass system to control the momentum of the woofer, Genesis says that the woofers seems effectively massless.

A solid titanium cone for the front firing mid/woofer speakers is something less commonly seen in high end speakers for fear of a tinnier sound, but Genesis picked metal for a reason.  Outside of the resonant frequency, metal is virtually distortion free, and the resonant frequency of the cones used in the 7.1f is far outside the operating range.
