The CEA Washington Forum saw a panel which included representatives from the FCC, NTIA and CEA assuring the public that the DTV transition’s last stretch was going smoothly. They announced that most of the American public has made the switch, and those who are still relying on analog programming have their coupons and are ready to switch over shortly.
Although they agreed that not everyone will make the switch in time for the June 12th cutoff, their statistics show that 97% of the population is aware of the switch, and the NTIA is still trying to reach the 3.6 million who are not. They expect a flurry of converter box installation two weeks before the deadline and intensive troubleshooting two weeks after, with a very small number of people left in the dark after the deadline. |
