Dolby Atmos is one of the coolest things to happen to audio in a while and a technology that really helps to make movies that much more immersive.  It can be found in a very limited number of theaters for showings of 'Taken 2,' and many of those that have heard it used have one big question – when can I have it in my house?

The folks at Dolby are looking into it, and they say that the since Atmos scales well to setups with fewer speakers, they can make it work nicely. The company is looking into ways of bringing Atmos to traditional 7.1 speaker setups as well as soundbars and even headphones but at this time they have no estimate as to when they'll be able to launch.  For now, we'll just wait as patiently as we can.
