The April release of the Elios home audio system from Elan Home Systems contains 19 in-ceiling models, which are all designed to give consumers a broad range of high-resolution sound options.
With prices ranging from $200 a pair to $1,500 a pair, the Elios system is a step up from the M Series (retailing at $200 a pair to $800 a pair). The M Series will be phased out and replaced by Elios through 2009. This system is designed for an all-encompassing sound, with in-wall and in-ceiling mounted units that are balanced by large woofer motors and magnets. The in-ceiling units have rotating and pivoting baffles. Elan has announced a new hybrid tweeter to be included in this system, which combines the high-frequency of a metal tweeter with the smooth sound of a soft-dome tweeter to provide the most natural sound possible. The in-wall and in-ceiling units have a larger base to clamp on the wall, in order to protect against drywall crumbling and ensure a more secure fit. |
