Netflix may dominate the streaming industry with its low prices and large catalog, but the folks at Vudu have a different approach. They go for high quality in both video and audio, and are now the first to bring 3D movies to a streaming service.
Pricing for 3D movies is higher than for standard films, but not by much. An HD movie rental costs $4.99 on Vudu, and a 3D movie rental at 720p costs $5.99. If you step up to 1080p you'll need to pay $6.99. Purchases are pricier too, at $21.99 instead of $19.99. Only three 3D movies - 'Bolt,' 'Chicken Little,' and 'Meet the Robinsons' - are currently available on Vudu, but more will be added in the future. The 3D update for Vudu will be made available to PlayStation 3 owners in the next few weeks and other capable devices will see the change soon, but no date was specified by Vudu. |
