If you take a look at the new remote from Amulet, you won't notice anything breathtaking. It's a pretty standard looking IR remote for Windows Media Center from the look of it, though looks can be deceiving.
The new remote is actually capable of voice control in addition to traditional operation. The folks at Amulet say that it's a much better way to deal with large media collections than scrolling through a large menu. "We have had significant interest in the product from CEDIA installation specialists and home automation vendors," says Amulet president Pat Lawless. "We are taking applications from these organizations and building a reseller channel that leverages the significant benefits that voice offers as a control interface." From the sound of things, Amulet may be expanding their control into home automation as well as home theater. You can pick up the Amulet Voice Remote now for a price of $259. |
