Microsoft Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive Receives Last Update  Print E-mail
Home Theater News HD DVD Hardware News

With the end of HD DVD, consumers should expect the firmware updates for their existing HD DVD players to cease.  However, Microsoft is giving those HD DVD lovers one more thrill.  The next time you play an HD DVD disc you will be prompted to update the drive (assuming you are connected to the internet).

Toshiba shows no plans of releasing any future firmware updates for their existing lines of the second and third generation HD DVD players.  So, for those that love their HD DVD player's SD DVD upconverting qualities may just have to deal with the slow load and response times.

The Microsoft update claims to improve compatibility with certain titles and adds additional support for network features.
