UltraViolet is a cloud based media solution that will allow you to transfer your purchased content to any device you own as long as you authenticate it first. That means you'll have to jump online anytime you want to transfer a video, which is about as inconvenient as it gets.
The group behind it includes names like Sony, Fox, Universal, Netflix, Adobe and Warner Bros, but the one company that's noticeably missing is Apple. If that means UltraViolet DRM isn't going to work with Apple devices that could be the start and end of the management system right there. We'll start seeing UltraViolet show up this fall, with a full rollout expected at the end of the year, just in time for Christmas.
