After the longest console cycle in company history, Sony has announced the PlayStation 4. The system offers plenty of potential when it comes to games and will certainly blow away the graphics of its predecessors, but that's not what tops Sony's list. Sony spent a great deal of time talking about the social possibilities of the new system, and prime among these features is a dedicated share button, which will let your friends watch streaming video of your gameplay.
The PlayStation 3 was one of the best Blu-ray players for the money for quite some time, so the obvious question is whether that will continue for the PS4. Sony says their system will be able to handle 4K content as long as it's native 4K content. It won't upscale, and since we don't know what format will be dominant in the 4K landscape it's hard to say whether the PlayStation 4 will get you there or not.
