The New York Times reports that the tape had circulated among Hendrix enthusiasts, but many, including Hendrix biographers and ex-girlfriends, have some doubts as to its authenticity. Others are sure it is genuine, including the woman who is famous for making plaster casts of 1960s rock stars’ genitalia; reportedly, Hendrix was one of her models.

No mention was made as to whether the disc would be released in Blu-ray format. Vivid was one of the first adult companies to produce content for the HD disc format.
