If you're looking for a good lighthearted comedy you'll find it this week. Those hoping for more serious faire will be let down badly, as will those looking for a good flick to see with the kids.
Dinner for Schmucks 'Schmucks' was adapted from a French film called 'The Dinner Game,' and stars Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and plenty of other great comedy actors. It's not the most brilliant of films, but acts as a vehicle for a series of increasingly funny characters who hit the screen one after another. 'Dinner for Schmucks' is well worth checking out. That and it's the only reasonably good film in wide release this week. Charlie St. Cloud I'll put it out there right now. I think there's potential in Zac Efron, I really do. He's got the look down, but he needs to learn about that whole acting thing. 'Charlie St. Cloud' is, by all accounts, a bad movie. There's just no getting around it. It's not even as sweet as it seems it might be. As the Chicago Tribune's Michael Phillips puts it, "The story's icky, frankly." Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore "You're not going to believe this. This movie has talking animals that do human things! And, oh my god, they've got this cat that wears a Hannibal Lecter mask – isn't that the cutest thing? They do this James Bond parody too. Isn't that the most original thing you've ever heard?" It's clear that I'm being sardonic there, isn't it? Also Coming Out This Week: Get Low The Concert (Le concert) The Extra Man I Killed My Mother (J'ai tue ma mere) The Dry Land Helen Who Killed Nancy? |
