I Am Number Four
"What we have here is a witless attempt to merge the "Twilight" formula with the Michael Bay formula," writes Roger Ebert in his review of 'I Am Number Four.' That's about all the detail you need to know that this lackluster film is well worth avoiding. It's bad sci-fi with elements of bad teen romance, directed by the man who brought us 'Eagle Eye' and will certainly be a black mark on the resume of actor Timothy Olyphant.
'Unknown' is the most promising film to hit theaters this week, and while it's not great by any stretch of the imagination, it just might find an audience. Liam Neeson plays a man who is the victim of a conspiracy that he can't begin to understand. It sounds a bit like a poor man's 'Frantic,' which isn't exactly an insult.
Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son
Because the 'Big Momma's House' series needed another sequel, apparently, Marin Lawrence is back. But wait, he's not alone! He brought his son, who is also disguising himself as an overweight woman. Brilliant. At what point does the 'Big Momma' franchise become sadder than '30 Rock' parody 'This Honky Grandma Be Trippin?'
