What's there to say about 'The Expendables' that can't be said by listing the cast? It's the action movie to end all action movies. It's got just about everyone you could want, minus Van Damme and Seagal, and seems to embrace the fact that it's a pure cheese fest. It's one of those flicks that doesn't even try to be a good movie. It's about fun, pure and simple.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Full Review)
If you only see one romantic comedy based on an independent comic book this year, make it 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.' It's clever and cute and steeped in 16-bit videogame love. It's got an impressive cast, a unique way of telling a story, and it's directed by Edgar Wright, best known for his film 'Shaun of the Dead.'
Eat, Pray, Love
Well they can't all be winners, can they? 'Eat, Pray, Love' is as much wish fulfillment for 40 something divorcees as 'The Expendables' is for teenage boys. It's about a woman who travels the world to find herself while meeting incredibly attractive men along the way. It's shallow and bland, but the right audience will enjoy it.
