It's been a tumultuous year for Blockbuster. They've had some really bad times and just when it seems like things are about to improve, it all gets bad again. This is yet another example. Blockbuster announced a new in-store subscription plan that allows you to swing on in and rent a movie any time you want at a price of $14.99 a month. You can have one DVD, Blu-ray or videogame out at a time and, if you like, you can even get one or two by mail.
So that sounds pretty good right? Well now for the bad news. Warner has instituted a 28 day delay between the release of the movie and the day that Blockbuster is allowed to rent it out. That puts them in the same boat with Redbox and Netflix and takes away some of their competitive advantage. Only time will tell what's going to happen with Blockbuster. Right now, things aren't looking great.
