Wilson Audio announced today that they will be releasing a version 7 of their acclaimed WATT Puppy loudspeaker system.
The changes include: • A new cabinet material in the WATT (the top speaker on a WATT Puppy) • A new driver in the Puppy (the bottom speaker on a WATT Puppy) • The crossovers have been refined to accommodate proprietary "phase delay" tuning. • The physical speakers (the WATT and Puppy) have been modified to look more aesthetically cohesive. The price per pair of Wilson WATT Puppy system 7 speakers is $22,400 in a standard finish. As always, custom and exotic colors are available. There is no upgrade path from the system 6 to system 7 because of the change in cabinet. Reportedly, the sonic differences from system 6 to system 7 are larger than the differences between version 5.1 and system 6. Early listening sessions report smoother highs and dramatic improvements in the low end because of the use of a new driver in the Puppy. The first public showing of the new system 7 will be at the Home Entertainment Show in New York this May. |
