If you’re a fan of high end audio gear, you’re pretty much required to be a fan of wood-grain or gloss black finishes. Sure, black is a versatile color. But if you’re going to spend $20,000 on a pair of speakers, it’d be nice to have something you really like the look of.
KEF understands the desire, and has created twelve new custom colors to appeal to a wider range of customers. The new colors are based on those of luxury cars and range from the bright yellow and orange that you could only get away with on a Ferrari, to more subdued colors like a metallic gray. The metallic dark-red they call “Garnet CC05” is especially fetching. Authorized dealers will have swatches available, and if you order one of the new colors, a custom swatch will be provided for you for approval before production. For the customization you can expect to pay roughly 15% more than for the gloss black finish, according to KEF. You’ll also sacrifice a bit of speed, as the service will take around three months to fulfill. |
