At the heart of the Salon2 loudspeakers are new proprietary transducers. Featuring dual neodymium magnet motor systems with sophisticated distortion reduction mechanisms, titanium diaphragms and oversized voice coils with ribbon wire, the woofers and midranges employed in the Salon2 represent high quality transducer design. The new 1-inch tweeter attains a new level of transparency and low coloration with its pure Beryllium dome, distortion-reducing motor system and custom-designed waveguide. Each Salon2 loudspeaker is individually hand-tuned during manufacturing to match the original engineering reference to within a fraction of a decibel, thereby guaranteeing unsurpassed consistency from loudspeaker to loudspeaker.

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Salon2 cabinet features smooth, rounded lines that blend with a wide variety of architectural styles. The elegant design extends to the magnetically attached grills eliminating the need for mounting hardware, while the acoustically optimized baffles and smooth surfaces of the transducer offer a visually arresting look when the loudspeakers are without their grills. An integrated access panel conceals the cast aluminum input panel and controls, hiding them from view, yet providing easy access to the controls and for wiring. The access panel is integrated with the shape of the loudspeaker giving it a finished look when viewed from any angle. The Salon2 loudspeakers are available in a high-gloss mahogany wood veneer or a high-gloss black lacquer finish.

The Salon2 is a floorstanding 4-way loudspeaker system with three 8-inch woofers, a 6.5-inch mid-woofer, a 4-inch midrange and a 1-inch Beryllium dome tweeter. Utilizing high-order networks (at 150 Hz, 575 Hz and 2.3 kHz) that optimize both the on-axis and off-axis response, these sophisticated networks help to ensure smooth octave-to-octave balance and timbral accuracy. The critical goal of accurate timber has been achieved as evidenced by an extremely flat in-room frequency response of 29 Hz to 45 kHz +/-0.5dB. The response is derived from 72 anechoic response measurements, representing the Salon2 acoustic output at all angles. The Salon2 also features frequency extension at –10dB @ 17 Hz. This is achieved with an easy-to-drive load with 6 Ohm nominal impedance and sensitivity of 86 dB SPL for 2.83 V rms @ 1 meter.

The Salon2 also features separate woofer, mid-woofer, midrange and tweeter filter boards preventing mutual interference between filter network components, dramatically reducing distortion over a wide dynamic range. Additionally, the Salon2 reduces cabinet-induced colorations with its 1-inch thick, one-piece wrap-around shell composed of 9 layers of MDF and extensive internal bracing. Gold-plated binding posts and shorting straps accommodate single-wired, bi-wired, and bi-amplified connections. Low Frequency Compensation and Tweeter Level switches on the concealed rear panel provide the ability to compensate for acoustic effects due to various applications and loudspeaker placement, as well as less-than-ideal listening room acoustics. Finally, adjustable combination spikes/glides can be attached to the bottom of the cabinet stands for optimal stability, accommodating installations on tile, hardwood, and carpeted floors.
