THE ADVENTURES OF RED RYDER (VCI Home Video) is a 12-episode, 204-minute compilation of the b/w Western serial, starring Don Barry, Noah Beery and Tommy Cook. Extras include an interview with the late Barry, a poster and lobby card gallery.
THE BLOB (Home Vision Cinema) is a new edition of the 1958 horror classic starring Steve McQueen, directed by Irvin S. Yeaworth, Jr. Aspect ratio is 1.66:1; sound format is Dolby Digital 2.0 mono. Extras include an audio commentary track from producer Jack H. Harris and historian Bruce Eder; a second commentary track with director Yeaworth and actor Robert Fields, a look at BLOB collectibles and a special-edition poster.
THE VERY BEST OF ‘THE HONEYMOONERS‘ (MPI) is a 135-minute compilation of the classic ‘50s b/w TV comedy series starring Jackie Gleason and Art Carney. Material includes the outtake collection "Funniest Moments 1 & 2," the "Honeymooners" sketch "Letter to the Boss" that aired on Gleason’s variety show in 1953 and "The Wit & Wisdom of Ed Norton," featuring Carney’s best moments from the series.
NUTTY PROFESSOR 2: THE KLUMPS (Universal Home Video), released theatrically earlier this year, features Eddie Murphy as Professor Sherman Klump, a variety of his relatives (male and female) and the nefarious Buddy Love. Janet Jackson portrays his love interest; Peter Segal directs. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound format is English Dolby Digital 5.1. Extras include a commentary from director Segal, a commentary from the producer, deleted scenes, a making-of short, a documentary on the extensive makeup application on Murphy to transform him into the various characters, Jackson’s "Doesn’t Really matter" music video and storyboards.
SCARY MOVIE (Dimension Home Video), released theatrically earlier this year to phenomenal box office success, sends up slasher horror films and pushes the definition of an R rating under Keenen Ivory Wayans’ direction. Shannon Elizabeth, Marlon Wayans and Carmen Electra star. Aspect ratio is 2.35:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1 and French Dolby Digital 5.1. Extras include a making-of short, deleted scenes, a game and Spanish subtitles.
STRAWBERRY FIELDS (Vanguard Films) is an award-winning 1998 comedy/drama about the Asian-American experience, directed by Rea Tajiri. James Sie, Chris Tashima and Suzy Nakamura star.
TRIXIE (Columbia/TriStar Home Video), released earlier this year, is director Alan Rudolph’s film noir parody about a malaprop-spouting female sleuth played by Emily Watson. Nick Nolte, Dermot Mulroney, Nathan Lane, Lesley Anne Warren and Will Patton also star. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. Extras include a writer/director commentary and French and Spanish subtitles.
THE BEST OF THE ANDY WILLIAMS SHOW (Image Entertainment) is a 57-minute compilation of the 1962 variety show, featuring performances by the host, Pearl Bailey, Bing Crosby, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Jerry Lewis and a five-year-old Marie Osmond.
