ANTITRUST (MGM Home Entertainment), released theatrically earlier this year, is about a young computer programmer who discovers murderous shenanigans when he joins the staff of a giant techno-firm. Ryan Philippe, Tim Robbins and Claire Forlani star; Peter Howitt directs. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1 and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1, with English, French and Spanish subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track from director Howitt and editor Zach Staenberg, a making-of featurette, deleted scenes with commentary from the director and Everclear’s "When It All Goes Wrong" music video. MPAA rating is PG-13.

THE BALLAD OF RAMBLIN’ JACK (Winstar Home Video), released theatrically last year, is director Aiyama Elliott’s documentary about her folk singer father, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, by all accounts a much better musician than he is a parent. The film is in color; no further format information is available. MPAA rating is PG-13.

BEST IN SHOW (Warner Home Video), released theatrically last year, is director Christopher Guest’s well-reviewed mockumentary comedy about dog shows and the people who display their pets at the events. Catherine O’Hara and Michael McKean head the cast. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound format is English Dolby Digital 5.1, with English and French subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track from filmmaker Guest, deleted scenes with optional director commentary, a "K-9 Corner" featurette on dogs and their owners and cast and filmmaker highlights. MPAA rating is PG-13.

BOESMAN AND LENA (Kino Video), released theatrically last year, stars Danny Glover and Angela Bassett in an adaptation of Athol Fugard’s acclaimed stage drama about a homeless couple on the road in South Africa. The film was shot on location by director John Berry. Aspect ratio is widescreen, in color; no sound format information is available. The film is unrated by the MPAA.

CLEOPATRA (20th Century Fox Home Entertainment) is a deluxe three-disc set of the 1963 epic, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, starring Elizabeth Taylor as the legendary Egyptian queen, Richard Burton as Marc Antony and Rex Harrison as Julius Caesar. Roddy McDowall and Martin Landau co-star. Aspect ratio is 2.35:1, from a new high-definition transfer; sound formats are English 5.1 Surround, English Dolby Surround and French Dolby Surround, with English and Spanish subtitles. Extras include the behind the scenes documentary "Cleopatra: The Film That Changed Hollywood," a 1963 featurette, archival footage of the New York and Hollywood premieres, an audio commentary track by Chris Mankiewicz, Tom Mankiewicz, actor Landau and Jack Brodsky, a stills gallery with behind-the-scenes photos, costume sketches and concept art. MPAA rating is G.

DUETS (Walt Disney Home Video), released theatrically last year, is director Bruce Paltrow’s comedy/drama about relationships that spring up at a karaoke bar. Andre Braugher, Paul Giamatti and Gwyneth Paltrow star. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound format is English Dolby Digital 5.1, with English subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary from director Paltrow and producer Kevin Jones, deleted scenes, a trailer, an interview with Paltrow and the "Cruisin’" music video. MPAA rating is R.

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (MGM Home Entertainment) is the 1960 American remake of Akira Kurosawa’s THE SEVEN SAMURAI, transferred to the Old West. Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter and James Coburn star under John Sturges’ direction in the tale of seven gunslingers who band together to defend a town. Aspect ratio is 2.35:1; sound formats are English 5.1 Surround, English Mono, French Mono and Spanish Mono, with English, French and Spanish subtitles. Extras include a new making-of documentary, an audio commentary track with actors Wallach and Coburn and producer Walter Mirisch, a photo gallery and original theatrical trailers. There is no MPAA rating.

MON ONCLE (Criterion/Home Vision) is director/star Jacques Tati’s 1958 comedy about his havoc-wreaking Monsieur Hulot character, this time creating problem’s at his sister’s home and a factory. Aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (full-screen) in black-and-white; sound formats are French (original language) Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono and English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono, with English subtitles. The DVD has restored image and sound. The English-language version of the soundtrack has been newly created by Tati, and the English subtitles on this edition are likewise new. Extras include an introduction from Terry Jones (of Monty Python) and Tati’s 1947 short "L’ecole des facteurs." Not rated by the MPAA.

MONSIEUR HULOT’S HOLIDAY (Criterion/Home Vision) is director/star Jacques Tati’s famed French-language 1953 comedy about a French gentleman who creates an uproar at a seaside resort. Nathalie Pascaud also stars. Aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (full-screen) in black-and-white; sound formats are French (original language) Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono and English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono, with English subtitles. The DVD has restored image and sound. The English-language version of the soundtrack has been newly created by Tati, and the English subtitles on this edition are likewise new. Extras include an introduction from Terry Jones and Rene Clement’s short film "Soigne ton gauche," starring Tati. Not rated by the MPAA.

PAY IT FORWARD (Warner Home Video), released theatrically last year, is a comedy/drama about a young boy (Haley Joel Osment) who comes up with a novel concept to improve the world. Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt also star under Mimi Leder’s direction. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound format is English Dolby Digital 5.1, with English subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track from director Leder, a making-of featurette and cast and filmmaker highlights. MPAA rating is R.

QUILLS (20th Century Fox Home Entertainment), released theatrically last year, was nominated for several Oscars, including a Best Actor commendation for Geoffrey Rush as the Marquis de Sade. The film concerns the increasingly drastic efforts to censor the Marquis during his stay at the Charenton asylum for the insane. Michael Caine, Joaquin Phoenix and Kate Winslet also star. Philip Kaufman directs writer Doug Wright’s screen adaptation of his stage play. Aspect ratio is 1.85:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1, English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround and French Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, with English and Spanish subtitles. Extras include three making-of featurettes and an audio commentary from writer Wright. MPAA rating is R.

RIFIFI (Criterion/Home Vision) is director Jules Dassin’s 1956 classic jewel heist thriller, starring Jean Servais and Carl Mohner. Aspect ratio is 1.33:1 (full-screen), in black-and-white and color; sound formats are French Dolby Digital 2.0 (original language) and English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono, with English subtitles, from a new digital transfer. Extras include a new English translation, an interview with Dassin, and production drawings and stills. There is no MPAA rating.

SUNSHINE (Paramount Home Entertainment), released theatrically last year, is director Istvan Szabo’s look at three generations of a Jewish family in Hungary, with Ralph Fiennes taking on a different role in each era. William Hurt, Rosemary Harris, Jennifer Ehle, Molly Parker, Rachel Weisz, Deborah Kara Unger and James Frain also star. Aspect ratio is widescreen, enhanced for 16x9 TVs; sound format is English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, with English subtitles. MPAA rating is R.

SUPERMAN (Warner Home Video) is a new DVD version of the soaring 1978 comic book fantasy adaptation that made a star of Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder and Marlon Brando also star under Richard Donner’s direction. Aspect ratio is widescreen; sound format is English Dolby Digital Surround 5.1, with English, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles. Extras include a remastered soundtrack, a feature-length audio commentary track with director Donner, a music-only audio track of John Williams’ score, three behind-the-scenes documentaries, deleted scenes, screen tests, audio outtakes, two theatrical trailers, a TV trailer and DVD-ROM features. MPAA rating is PG.

WHAT WOMEN WANT (Paramount Home Entertainment), released theatrically last year, is a funny fantasy/comedy starring Mel Gibson as a man who discovers that he can hear women’s thoughts. Helen Hunt and Alan Alda also star under Nancy Meyers’ direction. Aspect ratio is widescreen, enhanced for 16x9 TVs; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and French Dolby Surround, with English subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track by director Meyers and production designer John Hutman, a making-of featurette, interviews with cast and crew and two theatrical trailers. MPAA rating is PG-13.

YI YI – A ONE AND A TWO (Fox Lorber), released theatrically last year, is director Edward Yang’s 173-minute drama about a middle-class Korean family, starring Nien-Jen Wu and Elaine Jin. Aspect ratio is widescreen; no sound format information available. Extras include a commentary track from director Yang.
